About Amritsar Eye Clinic

Amritsar Eye Clinic is a state-of-the-art eye care centre located at Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Ever since its inception, the centre has provided world class ophthalmic services to the people of the Doon valley and the neighbouring states. Its mission is to eradicate blindness by providing the best facilities of the medical world.

Amritsar Eye Clinic was established in March, 1987, in Dehradun by Dr. Dinesh Sharma and has, since then, been serving the people of the Doon valley and the neighbouring states. It is the most well equipped ophthalmic centre of this region, providing modern equipment and the best doctors for management of eye problems.

Every year at A.E.C., more than 35000 patients are examined, cataract surgeries in excess of 3000 performed and close to 1000 glaucoma patients operated. In addition, a variety of other procedures like squint surgeries, ptosis surgeries, lid operations, refractive surgeries, etc., are regularly performed at the centre. The centre aims, annually, to operate at least 400 economically challenged patients free of cost, apart from providing other free ophthalmic services.

Our achievements

Under the leadership of Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Amritsar Eye Clinic has reached a number of milestones since its inception.

  • 1987 – First in the region to start intra-ocular lenses.
  • 1993 – First to start phaco-emulsification and stitchless cataract surgery.
  • 1999 – Refractive surgery for removal of glasses was started for the first time in Uttarakhand and western U.P.
  • 2006 – Laser D.C.R. surgery started here for the first time.
  • 2007 – Collagen Cross-linking made available for the management of Keratoconus.
  • 2007 – One of the first in the country to research and study Micro-Incision Cataract Surgery (M.I.C.S.) which was later made available to the public in 2008.

Amritsar Eye Clinic consistently endears to serve the public with the best facilities available in the medical world.

Social Activities

The poor and needy deserve the same medical attention as the economically more well off. As its moral responsibility, Amritsar Eye Clinic tries to give back to society whatever is in its capacity. Besides providing free consultation and diagnostic facilities to many, AEC operates about 400 patients free of cost every year. There is no compromise in the technology used.

Recently, AEC adopted a village under the government’s National Blindness Control Program. Free ophthalmic services are provided to each and every member of the village. It is Amritsar Eye Clinic’s ultimate desire to make this place free of unnecessary blindness.
