Refractive Surgery
PRK (Photo-Refractive Keratectomy):
PRK was the original laser vision correction procedure and has been successfully used to treat hundreds of thousands of people since the 1980’s. With PRK, the excimer was introduced as an ultra-precise alternative to traditional scalpel-based refractive surgery procedures, such as Radial Keratotomy (RK), which are now rarely performed.
Generally, at London Vision Clinic we only use PRK when we are unable to use LASIK. Whilst PRK produces good results in the correction of a full range of prescriptions, including myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia and astigmatism, it has the disadvantage that recovery is significantly longer than in LASIK.

Lasik (laser in situ keratomileusis):
LASIK is a form of outpatient corneal surgery in which a surgeon uses a specialised and precise flap-making instrument, called a microkeratome, to create a thin flap of corneal tissue.This corneal flap is raised and laid back while still attached to the cornea. The surgeon then uses a state-of-the-art excimer laser to remove a pre-determined amount of corneal tissue from the exposed bed of the cornea.The amount of tissue to be removed is calculated based on the pre-operative determination of the power of your eye; these measurements are usually in agreement with recent prescriptions for your glasses and/or contact lenses. The corneal flap is replaced and within minutes natural forces hold the flap down on the cornea.Usually, within a few hours, the surface epithelium of the cornea begins to grow over the cut edge of the flap to seal it into position. LASIK can be used to correct short-sight (myopia), long-sight (hyperopia), and astigmatism.
With LASIK, the healing process is significantly reduced, in comparison to PRK and patients can typically return to routine work and leisure activities within a couple of days of treatment. In addition, vision improvement is virtually instantaneous (the so-called “wow effect”) and both eyes can usually be treated on the same day

EPI LASIK:
The Epi-LASIK is utilized to mechanically cleave the epithelium from the Bowman’s membrane leaving a pristine optical zone for laser ablation. Epi-Lasik preserves the structural integrity of the stroma and is expected to minimize discomfort, shorten the length of visual recovery, and reduce the incidence of haze associated with other surface ablation procedures, such as PRK and LASEK.

CK (Conductive Keratoplasty):
CK is a procedure recently approved by the FDA in which a radio frequency probe rather than a laser is used to reshape the cornea. This procedure is quick and painless and does not require cutting the cornea with a scalpel or laser. It is approved for low to moderate hyperopia in patients over age 40.CK is uses a small probe, thinner than a strand of human hair, to release controlled radio frequency (RF) energy to reshape the cornea. The probe is applied in a circular pattern on the outer cornea to shrink small areas of tissue.This circular shrinkage pattern creates a constrictive band (somewhat like tightening a belt) increasing the overall curvature of the cornea. The procedure takes less than three minutes and is done in our office using only anesthetic eye drops.

 In addittion to these Refractive Surgery Amritsar Eye Clinic also provides E Lasik and C Lasik .

Cataract Surgery
Phaco - Emulsification:
Phaco- emulsification is the latest technique for removing the cataractous lens. This is a technique of cataract operation with:
No injection
No stitches
No bandage
No admission
No elaborate dos & dont's
Cataract is a condition in which the normal lens of the eye becomes opaque and does not let the light to pass through to Retina. Our eye is like a camera. It has lens, an apperture-the iris and a photographic film, the Retina.
When ever we see - the light passes through this whole setup and an image or a picture is formed on the Retina. In cataract this lens becomes opaque as shown in the picture and does not allow light to pass. So a hazy image or no image is formed on the Retina.
Thus a person with cataract can not see clearly. The only treatment for this is - REMOVAL of CATARACTOUS opaque lens and putting in a new artificial lens in its place. Over the time various evolutions have taken place. Earlier the whole of the lens used to be removed. This was called Intracapsular cataract extraction.
After this operation patient had to wear thick aphakic glasses which had its own problems. Then came extracapsular cataract extraction, in which a part of lens capsule was left behind; and lens was implanted on top of this capsule.
Now the revolutionary phaco-emulsification has come to stay. It has improved over the time and latest is phaco- emulsification under topical anaesthesia or no-anaesthesia which has totally'revolutionised the cataract operations.

 In addittion to these Cataract Surgery Amritsar Eye Clinic also provides Small Incision Phaco and All Types of Lenses .

Glaucoma
OCT Field Analysis(Optical Coherence Tomography):
Optical Coherence Tomography, or OCT, is a noncontact, noninvasive imaging technique used to obtain high resolution cross-sectional images of the retina. OCT was developed through a collaborative effort between the New England Eye Center, Tufts University School of Medicine, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, and Lincoln Laboratory, MIT.
OCT is analogous to ultrasound B-scan imaging except that light rather than sound waves are used in order to obtain a much higher longitudinal resolution of approximately 10µm in the retina.
OCT has been shown to be clinically useful for imaging selected macular diseases including macular holes, macular edema, age-related macular degeneration, central serous chorioretinopathy, epiretinal membranes, schisis cavities associated with optic disc pits, and retinal inflammatory diseases.
In addition, OCT has the capability of measuring the retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in glaucoma and other diseases of the optic nerve.

 In addittion to these Amritsar Eye Clinic also provides RNA (Retinal Nerve Fibre Analysis) and Visual Field Charting .

Cosmetic Eye Surgery (Occuloplasty)
Lid Correction(Eye lid Rejuvenation):
Eye lid Rejuvenation or Blepharoplasty, is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgical procedures. With age, the tissue above and below the eyes begins to look droopy. These heavy lids can make it difficult to keep the eyes open and gives the appearance of fatigue. Blepharoplasty may be performed on the upper lids to restore the eyelid platform. This surgery can also improve baggy appearing lower eyelids. Both procedures can make the eyes appear brighter, fresher and more alert.
The CO2 laser cauterizes blood vessels as it removes the excessive skin and underlying fatty tissue. This reduces intraoperative bleeding and postoperative bruising and swelling, allowing more rapid return to normal activities. The incisions are placed within the natural crease of the eyelids and usually heal without noticeable scarring. Laser Skin Resurfacing and Eyelid Rejuvenation complement one another and together they provide a pleasing total improvement for most patients. While eyelid rejuvenation removes excess tissue, laser skin resurfacing tightens and rejuvenates damaged skin. Both procedures may be performed during a single session, thereby avoiding additional facility fees and recovery time.

 In addition to these Amritsar Eye Clinic also provides Ptosis,Endoscopic DCR,Laser DCR and All Types Blepharo plastic procedures. .
