There are 12 million blind in India and 50 to 75 percent of blindness is attributable to cataracts. According to the WHO, cataract surgery is one of the most cost-effective treatments that can be offered in developing countries. AEC has always taken a pledge to provide the best eye care services to all sections of society. In this New Year we aim to provide the highest quality care, at the lowest possible cost. AEC's determination made it possible to operate cataracts for only Rs.1200. There are many challenges to our initiative that aim to eliminate avoidable blindness and two major ones are finances and lack of awareness .Many cataract patients due to financial reasons does not avail medical facilities and neglect their eyes which eventually affect their vision permanently.
